New Delhi: Automobile major Tata Motors on Wednesday (Apr 7) launched its new hatchback — Tiago.
The new hatchback comes with a starting price of Rs.3.20 lakh for the Revotron 1.2-litre (petrol) variant and Rs.3.94 lakh for the Revotorq 1.05-litre diesel (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
This globally benchmarked car represents the next big leap in our transformation journey,” said Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicles business unit, Tata Motors, in a statement.
“We are confident that Tiagos strong and distinct character will make it stand out in this highly popular but immensely competitive segment.
According to the company, the new vehicle encompasses inputs from Pune, UK and Italy design studios.
The new passenger car gives a fuel efficiency of 23.84 km per litre on Revotron 1.2 litre petrol and 27.28 km per litre on Revotorq 1.05 litre diesel engine.
“These (engines) have been indigenously developed by the company and globally benchmarked for a refined road performance,” the statement said.
“Both these engines have been designed and programmed to deliver superior fuel economy and a peppy driving experience with a segment-first feature, the multi-drive mode — City and Eco — making it equivalent to offering two engines in one.”
The statement revealed that the two drive modes are supported by an advanced engine management system (EMS).
Besides, the new hatchback sports various safety features — dual front airbags, advance ninth generation ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and corner stability control.
