New Delhi: Renault entry-level hatchback, Kwid, recently has crossed 1.75 lakh sales in India.
Kwid was launched in May 2015 in India and since then it has been the top selling car in India. Renault in an average is selling 7000 to 9000 units of the Kwid a month and in last five months the company has sold 45,000 units.
Managing Director and CEO, Renault India, Sumit Sawhney, said, “We are grateful to our customers for the trust bestowed in the Renault brand.”
He added that the Renault KWID has proved its mettle in the fiercely competitive mini hatchback segment in India.”
The CEO said, “Since its launch, we have introduced product enhancements and innovations at regular intervals in keeping with evolving customer behaviour and preferences including the CLIMBER and AMT versions.”
The company believes that post-GST the Kwid has become even more accessible to car buyers with a starting price of Rs2.61 Lakh, going up to ₹ 4.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Climber AMT variant.
In India Renault offers three versions of the Kwid hatchback — the standard Kwid, Kwid 1.0L/AMT, and the Kwid Climber edition.
Kwid comes with two petrol engines and two transmission options powered by an 800 cc three-cylinder petrol engine that makes 53 bhp and 72 Nm of peak torque. The hatchback has a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
The company also offers a more powerful 1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that does duty on the Kwid 1.0, Kwid AMT. This model makes about 67 bhp and 91 Nm of peak torque transmission options include both a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.
Kwid boasts of being the only car in the segment that offers a touchscreen MediaNAV system with Bluetooth, AUX-IN connectivity among others. The well-designed cabin of the car offers decent space for 5 average size adults.
