To be positioned above Duster, the Renault Kaptur Crossover will rival against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Hexa.
Renault, the French automaker is planning to launch one new product in the country every year. This year, the company has already launched the new Duster and is all set to launch the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre version. Renault recently unveiled the Kaptur crossover in Russia, which will also go on sale in the Indian car market.
Based on the Duster platform, the Kaptur crossover is likely to go on sale in India during festive season 2017. The 5-seater crossover will be positioned above the Renault Duster and will rival against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Hexa. Dimensionally, the Kaptur is 4,333mm long, 1,813mm wide and 1,613mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,674mm. It comes with a ground clearance of 204mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions.
The Renault Kaptur crossover will come with an AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) system, which will be combined to a locking centre differential. The crossover will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. It is expected to share engine lineup with the Duster SUV, which is equipped with a 1.5-litre DCi diesel and 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit.
The vehicle shares design inspiration from the Captur cross, which is already on sale in select European markets. However, there are subtle changes to keep things fresh. It comes with a prominent front fascia with a large Renault badge, new bumper with LED daytime running lamps. Other design elements include flared wheel arches, styled LED tail-lamps, strong beltline and skid plates.
