Oppo launched the selfie-centric phone, aka the F3, in India on Thursday at a price of Rs 19,990. The Oppo F3, which can be considered as a toned down version of the company’s F3 Plus phone, will be available for pre-order from May 4 to May 12. It will be available for buying from May 13, the company announced.
Oppo’s F3 has the same dual front camera system as the one on-board the company’s more expensive F3 Plus. Just like the F3 Plus, the Oppo F3 also comes with one 16-megapixel standard lens and another 8-megapixel — 120 degree — wide-angle lens for group selfies. The idea behind incorporating a wide-angle lens for selfies stems from the fact that 66 per cent of users have apparently told Oppo – as per a Nielsen survey – that their phone’s front camera lens aren’t wide enough to capture good group selfies.
The F3 uses smart recognition to detect when three or more people are in the frame and automatically switches to wide-angle mode, according to Oppo. The F3, in addition, can also make do of its secondary 8-megapixel front sensor to achieve fancy bokeh effects in selfies.
On the rear, the Oppo F3 comes with a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus, Optical Image Stabilisation and LED flash.
Erstwhile, the Oppo F3 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen and an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor with 4GB RAM under the hood. The phone comes with 64GB of internal memory which is expandable via a separate micro-SD card slot. The phone also ships with two separate slots for two separate SIMs and is capable of running what it calls as Clone apps, which are essentially two different instances of the same app like WhatsApp.
The 4G LTE-capable Oppo F3 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based ColorOS 3.0 and is backed by a 3,200mAh battery with support for fast charging.
