Hyderabad, August 11 , 2016: In a revolutionary move, K Raheja Corp, India’s leading real estate developers, known to invest in employee well-being and re-iterating committed to improving the communities in which it operates, launches its ‘time off for volunteering policy’. The policy encourages employees to partake in community development by providing them ‘time off’ from work to undertake philanthropic initiatives. The Company already has a CSR offering christened ‘Teaching Tree’ in the space of children’s education and employees can come forward either to volunteer for the same, or choose any other cause of their choice.
On the back of Teaching Tree’s launch initiative – the ‘Book Collection Drive’ which saw tremendous success and resulted in the setting up of libraries across several schools, the Company now throws open doors to employees for partnering with Teaching Tree. Employees can come forward and either play ‘teacher’ or ‘friend’ to the less fortunate children covered under the initiative. Employees will work with NGO Teach for India, who will ensure the best possible use of employee strengths.
To start with, this unique program will offer employees six days of paid leave to volunteer with an NGO of their choice. Not restricting to Teaching Tree alone, employees can choose from amongst antipoverty efforts or collaborate with NGO’s that are working towards empowering senior citizens, championing animal rights, fighting against human trafficking, among others.
Speaking on the initiative, Urvi Aradhya, Sr. Vice President, HR, K Raheja Corp said, “For us at K Raheja Corp, philanthropy is encouraged across all levels. Very often, the intent is in place but with busy schedules, time is a limitation. We are hence making a start by giving our people time-off from work to engage in social initiatives of their choice. This only marks the beginning, and we have already received excellent response to the initiative. We now look forward to making a marked difference in the communities in which we operate.”
The move is backed by the belief that it is necessary for today’s generation to come forward and contribute towards building a better tomorrow. The program extends itself to all K Raheja Corp employees, across all levels and locations.
