India, 9 March 2017/Team Estrade//– Women’s day was celebrated the world over yesterday. On the occasion of Women’s Day 2017, India Inc.’s business leaders shared with Team Estrade, their initiatives for women empowerment, their personal challenges as women, and the way the public perception and business community’s perception has changed for good over years.
Nisha Verma – HR Head of Opteamix
“As a single mother, every day has been Woman’s Day for me. I am an ardent believer; that we women have so much untapped potential within us.
A little bit of encouragement would go a long way in ensuring that we use this potential and become better and more successful versions of ourselves.
I am a model, an actress, the first woman in India to get a paranormal investigator certificate and I owe all this to GOD. I hope that my daughter looks back and acknowledges my struggles and journey when she grows up and realizes everything. She’s been my strength throughout.
This year let’s make a promise to ourselves to live up to our well-deserved label of being “Sheroes” and literally reach for the stars with our confidence and self-respect intact.”
Moksha Srivastava, Cofounder and CMO of Wheelstreet.com
“Women in all aspects of life are carving a niche for themselves and we have some exemplary examples of women who have given inspiration to other, specially women entrepreneurs who have of late been adding immense values and setting new trends to achieve their goals. All these women are working hard to change the perception and break barriers for a greater good and I strive to do the same every day. Nothing could be truer for women entrepreneurs of today who are charting unknown territories fearlessly.
When you are passionate about your business goals, you are more likely to see growth and success in the long run. Many of us have worked hard to take the gender out of the equation; to simply be recognized for our skills and talent. Despite all its set of challenges, it is worth the struggle. Running a company has nothing to do with gender but there are some natural advantages like being more empathetic.”
Madhavi Obulapu, HR Manager of Spoors Technology Solutions
“Love yourself first and everything else falls in its place, is what I strongly believe in. The true beauty of a Woman doesn’t really lie in the way she dresses or carries herself but by the way she juggles her multiple tasks among the diverse roles that she plays, while being constantly on her toes.
A Woman has the strength to support the entire family while being a strong pillar of in case of an emergency. Nurturing a little girl into a strong and successful women happens more naturally, not when it is being taught but more so through life experiences. She draws her strength from the struggle, in handling distress situations with a smile on her face and she grows stronger with the situations and challenges around her. Be proud of who you are as you are the most beautiful creation of god. I would like to wish all the wonderful, beautiful and bold women out there a very happy women’s day!”
Mahathi Parashuram, Regional Head – Public Affairs, Communications & Relations, Grundfos Asia Pacific Region
“Grundfos India has organized a special outing for all its women employees from around the country on March 10. We will have lunch together and also visit Dhakshin Chitra together to enjoy some cultural and team building moments.”
“To achieve a truly innovative environment so Grundfos can maintain its position as a trendsetter within water technology, we need to have a diverse workforce. This includes gender equality and our aim is to have 25% female representative in management positions globally by 2017. In 2015, 20% of managers in Grundfos were female, and we have not progressed as we hoped.
We have therefore planned to further integrate diversity into our recruiting process and leadership programmes, to facilitate having a more diverse workforce in Grundfos.”
Suresh Rangarajan, Cofounder and CEO of CoLife
“For us at CoLife, the intent behind celebrating Woman’s Day is very simple; we want it to be about supporting and empowering our network of tough and passionate women. They essay the roles of being loving daughters, loyal friends, bossy sisters, caring wives, doting mothers and accomplished career women with ease and bring to mind the old adage that; What a man can do, a woman can do better.
Woman’s day for us is much more than celebrations and gifts, it is a reminder to honor these forces of nature today and every day. This year, we are dedicating our celebrations to the women who overcame wars, losing their families, and living with fear everyday to becoming Nobel Lauterates, award winning authors, motivational speakers and sole bread winners for their families”.
Jasal Shah, CEO and MD: Velocity MR
“What’s interesting is that if we observe the word – Women, it already subsumes Men and this is a great reflection that women can do everything a man can do or achieve, if not more!Women have transformed themelves with a better understanding of leadership over time; which can interestingly be seen among them in their efforts to achieve greater goals. Echoing similar sentiment, we are working on an internal campaign – #WonOverMEN, this campaign does not stand strictly for its literal meaning but it is metaphorically used to indicate and acknowledge the hard work & determination shown by our female counterparts.
On March 8, we’re going to celebrate the spirit of feminism and felicitate all those female colleagues who have excelled in whatever they have taken up through WonOverMEN Certificates.”
Muki Regunathan Cofounder and Spokesperson of BookMyTime
“Women are the better half of humanity, and this half unfortunately still remains woefully deprived of freedom and movement. The saddest part is that in a way we have destroyed half of ourselves as a result.
From the very beginning, men are taught that being empathetic, crying, and not being aggressive are all feminine traits and that ‘boys should be boys’.
Women in the same way are encouraged to never show aggression, and to always remain passive and receptive. In my view in an ideal world both men and women should be able to empathize with one another and be able to interchange roles as the situation demands. There are moments when a man needs to be kind , tender and loving and there are moments when a woman needs to be expressive and aggressive in anger, in rebellion and most importantly in defense during times of danger.”
