After several months of speculations and rumours, Ford India has now officially confirmed that the Mustang will be launched in India on July 13. The Mustang’s launch event will be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
The Mustang coming to India would be in its Euro-spec form. It would house a 5.0-litre V8 naturally aspirated petrol engine under its hood. This Ti-VCT mill will be capable of developing 435 BHP and a peak torque of 524 Nm. The company claims that these output figures are enough to propel the Mustang from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. In India, the 5.0L V8 will be offered only with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox.
Ford introduced the Mustang in India in January this year, before showcasing it at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Mustang will be offered only in its coupe avatar here, while there is no news about the Mustang convertible coming to India yet.
Once launched, the Ford Mustang will compete against the likes of BMW Z4, Audi TT, and the soon to be launched Nissan GT-R. Prices of this iconic American muscle car are expected to fall in the band of Rs. 60-70 lakh.
