With an experience of 2 decades and a vision of making Key point Technologies an unprecedented opportunity for mobile application manufacturers. Mr. Sumit Goswami, CEO KPT talks to Estrade about the newly launched app Xploree, the first search and discovery platform in 140 different languages. Excerpts.
- Tell us about yourself and since how long have you been working with KPT.
I joined KeyPoint Technologies (KPT) as CEO and am leading the company’s strategy and direction into new growth markets through the introduction of innovative product lines and skills augmentation. Our goal is to re-define human device communication through linguistic science, machine learning and data analytics to design next-generation mobile applications. I have been with the firm since March 2012 and my vision is to take search and discovery on mobile devices to the next level.
Prior to joining KPT, I was the Country Head – India for Adaptive Mobile. I have also worked with Nuance Communications as the Head of Marketing and Business Development APAC for the Mobile and Consumer Services Division.
I have 18 years of experience in Marketing, International Business Development, Product Management and Sales in competitive telecom markets in Asia, Europe and MEA region. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
- Tells us about the new app Xploree.
Xploree is the industry’s first search and discovery platform that connects mobile users to the most relevant brands and services across search, messenger and other platforms without exiting the current conversation app. Leveraging KPT’s expertise in multi-lingual capabilities, Xploree which is currently available in English for Android device users, will support nearly 140 languages (global and Indic) by December 2015.
Built on our patent pending cross-app search and discovery platform, the app provides innovative content & deals to mobile users’ in a single hop without quitting their ongoing app conversations. Which means along with predicting user behaviour, the app also displays location-based services or offers (relevant to the context) right above the keyboard without the user having to navigate elsewhere.
- Do you believe Xploree is a game changer?
Yes, Xploree is certainly a game changer and we are confident that it will unleash the ‘Next Big Wave’ in the Indian mobile market.
Xploree has emerged as the only intelligent, user-initiated and hyper-contextual Search & Discovery platform in the mobile eco-system. It predicts user needs during chat conversations and guides them through their mobile journey across apps through relevant content, deals and services discovery.
- How has the Indian market responded to Xploree so far?
The response so far has been highly positive amongst our consumers as well as the media. Till date Xploree has had 0.18 million downloads on Google’s Play Store. Being a recent entrant in the market we have a long way to go but are confident that Xploree will make a difference in the Indian mobile service market and take search and discovery to the next level.

- What are some of the thing you’ve done to reach your target audience in terms of Sales & Marketing?
We have recently partnered with leading daily deals website – Groupon India, to bring customers exciting, value-for-money deals at the touch of their fingertips. The unique partnership will enable Xploree users to instantly discover and purchase unbelievable Groupon deals ranging from dining and wellness, to shopping and getaways.
We will be partnering with other major ecosystem players to bring qualified value to consumer engagement through pre-targeted content discovery on mobile devices.

- Do you have any new product in the pipeline?
As an organization, we keep innovating and our innovation team is constantly working on ideas and prototypes to disrupt the device and human communication conundrum. Our team is also working on disrupting the language barriers for consumers in the Indian mobile ecosystem to enable social inclusion.
