Mumbai, 20th October 2020: Dove presents ‘It’s A Girl Thing, India’, special partner Gillette Venus, an initiative by Zee Live in partnership with Branded concluded its three-day virtual festival with much grandeur. Its India edition was hosted from October 16-18 and millions of people tuned in virtually.
It’s A Girl Thing India was purposefully programmed to curate a line-up of popular celebrities, creators, advocates and social media influencers from India and beyond who inspire and engage with their stories and point of view. IAGT India also stands in support of UN Women’s Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment mandate, the 2041 Foundation’s Climate Force countdown and the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance initiative on Girl’s Education.
The debut of IAGT India shone a light on key issues and challenges that young women in India and across the globe face in their everyday lives and delivered actionable outcomes that you could implement, whatever your situation. The festival featured a powerful mix of over 35 local and international talent such as Avani Awasthee, Dia Mirza, Dolly Singh, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Liza Koshy, Merrell Twins, Pooja Dhingra, Prajakta Koli, Raja Kumari, Rhea Kapoor, Robert Swan OBE and Shaheen Bhatt to name a few. They engaged in meaningful conversations with the audiences and celebrated sisterhood, redefined beauty standards, spoke of financial independence, body positivity, self-love, mental health, fashion, climate change and much more. The festival also saw some thrilling performances by Ali Barter, Mali, Megha Rao and Sainee Raj.
Speaking on the success of the event, Swaroop Banerjee, COO and Business Head, Zee Live said, “The first edition of IAGT India wrapped yesterday and I’m so thrilled to see the love and affection we received for it. I can’t thank the 35 incredible women creators and the 5.2 million fans enough who joined hands with us and helped take our mission to empower young girls forward. There are innumerable more possibilities in which we can speak to young women across the country and there are innumerable more incredible women stories that we can tell. We are imagining more phases of It’s a Girl Thing in all regional Zee markets. With brands like Dove and Gillette Venus onboard, and the confidence they have shown in the format strengthens our resolve to add more such like-minded brands on the way forward.
Emma Fung, Executive Producer IAGT and COO, Branded said, “After three successful years in Singapore and Manila we couldn’t be more thrilled to see such an impactful launch of It’s A Girl Thing in India this weekend. The interaction, feedback, passion from speakers, partners and audiences tell us that our purpose is needed and the voice of community to help us scale up and carry on is here. We want to steer meaningful conversations around topics and passions facing and engaging young Indian women today so we are pleased to be able to take the platform to this target audience through our partnership with ZEE Live, utilising their massive network strength. Bringing fun and positivity in an extraordinarily weird year is also an important purpose close to our hearts for the Zee Live and Branded teams.”
