A state-of-the-art Aluminium Park, aiming at creating 15,000 job opportunities, will soon come up at Angul in Odisha.
It will be the first project in the subcontinent with a facility to directly obtain molten aluminium from the smelter, a senior official said.
The park, involving an investment of Rs 180 crore, will be spread over 223 acres of industrial land.
With aluminium consumption growing at 15 per cent on a yearly basis and the demand set to rise, the park is being set up in Odisha with the state contributing to 54 per cent of the country’s total smelting capacity, he said.

“We have already received many investment proposals for the Aluminium Park in Angul and we aim to create around 15000 job opportunities through the project,” Sanjeev Chopra, Principal Secretary, state Industries Department, said.
The Aluminium Park would also create opportunities for downstream industries in the aluminium sector.
Jointly developed by Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Angul Aluminium Park will be the first project in the subcontinent with a facility to directly obtain molten aluminium from the smelter, he said.
The project will also act as a stimulus to a responsive and a growing economy, another official said.
With an investment of Rs 180 crore for infrastructure of the project, the park would be a complete industrial state-of-the-art entity, fully equipped with logistics infrastructure facility, an exclusive training centre, a park administration and a display and trade services facility.
Chopra said, “Odisha is witnessing rapid industrial transformation as per the roadmap laid out in our ‘Vision 2025’ document.”
“Odisha is a mineral rich state and by developing world class infrastructure, we aim to provide an ideal business ecosystem for all the related sectors to flourish,” he said.
The state is home to leading domestic and international aluminium companies like NALCO, HINDALCO and Vedanta.
The Aluminium Park will be favourably situated near the NALCO smelter plant and in close proximity to all major ports and markets, the national highway and the international airport at Bhubaneswar, Chopra said.
