Ahead of the official launch at the MWC 2017, a lot of details about the two smartphones have already surfaced. Moto by Lenovo is expected to unveil Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus on 26th February at Mobile World Congress MWC 2017. Ahead of the official Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus unveiling, a Spanish online retailer accidentally listed the yet-to-be-announced smartphones with purported official renders and promotional materials claiming features, specifications, and other details.
Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus Design
The latest Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus leak shows the two upcoming smartphones in all their glory. The new leaked renders corroborate previous leaks, and suggest that the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will indeed sport metal bodies and will come with Lenovo branding on the side panels. The front panel of the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus can be seen featuring fingerprint scanner, which has been part of previous leaks as well, while the primary camera can be seen in the circular design at the back. The legendary Moto “M” logo is embossed at the back as well.
Moto G5 Plus specifications
According to the rumors, the Moto G5 Plus is said to come with a 5.2-inch display, which is contradictory to earlier reports that suggested the smartphone could feature a 5.5-inch display. It will have an AMOLED display with full HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
Under the hood, the smartphone is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. It is expected to come in two storage options of 16GB and 32GB. In the photography department, the Moto G5 Plus is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, along with a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. Again, certain reports claim that the smartphone will come with a 12-megapixel rear camera with ‘Rapid Focus’.
It is expected to be fuelled by either a 3,080mAh battery or a 3,000mAh battery with Turbo Charging support. It is also expected to come with NFC support. The Moto G5 Plus is further said to run Android 7.0 Nougat with some features from Motorola Experience including Moto Assist, Moto Display, and Moto Actions. The Moto G5 Plus features an IP67 certification rating. This means that the device can be be submerged in up to 3 feet of water for as long as 30-minutes.
